In the Name of the Lord

Finding defiant boldness

Happy Monday Morning! I pray this 3 minute read will bless your day and point you back to Christ - all week.

Take it to work. Bring it home to your marriage. Share it with your kids, friends, love ones or the stranger at the bus stop. Just carry “it” - the name of the Lord in your heart everywhere you go.

Above all the weapons of war offered to David as he stood to the giant, Goliath, the name of the Lord was all that matters and it simultaneously became his reason to take a stand and the ground to stand on and the weapon with which he fought.

The trained, adult fighting men couldn’t find strength to “handle their business” in the face of the taunts and threats of Goliath the 9 foot, 6 inch Palestinian giant, but David a 17 year old, untrained, undersized, overlooked boy found defiant strength in the name of the Lord that trained grown soldiers didn’t have.

David’s strength rested in his awareness of all the power the name of the Lord stands for and confident in the full scope of God the name of the Lord represented.

“You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” 1 Samuel 17:45

A sword.  A spear. A javelin.

Many times I have gotten caught up fighting the person and threatened by the instruments of war physically confronting me. David’s stance has helped me not to be freaked out by the sword, javelin and spear I see,  but to stand in an audacity of hope and knowing of who I am and what I have - in the name of the Lord - the authoritative host over every angel and the One in control of the armies of God’s people.

Let’s pray to align with the boldness and confidence available to all who show up to the fight of life, knowing and believing in the name of the Lord.
