Grow in God's Purpose
Proverbs 19:21
Good Monday Morning Men! Before diving in, I want to share a brief but important announcement. Tonight, 10/28 at 7pm if you’re married, I will be hosting a 1 hour free preview of the upcoming class: About This Time Next Year. Is your marriage worth 1 hour to learn how to improve communication, trust, intimacy or handling money? Here’s the Zoom login: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83121312271?pwd=f8NtPm5DzH7yBoWvcM8PqYd8rxuKO3.1
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Proverbs 19:21
If I had to put my plans, just for this week, into categories they would be:
Things I want to do - play golf ⛳️
Things I want to fix - yard work, blinds to be hung, sump pump issue 🛠️
Goal to accomplish: Write 1,000 words a day on new book ✍🏼
What I need to deal with - car needs new shocks 🚗
Things my wife wants me to do or thinks I should be doing - 🤣🤣🙃
What are yours?
I can go on and on and until this verse hit me - I was. I have plans, some optional, some crucial but how many align or even consider the Lord’s purpose? We rush, we go, we do, we get done, but how many of our plans consider or leave room for the Lord’s purpose?
It’s political season (please vote) so we could just make up a number, but really of the many plans in our head, how many, if any, point to the Lord’s purpose?
Perhaps the most popular interview question of the last few years is: So, where do you see yourself in 5 years? You may have an answer for that one. But getting to 5 years down the road starts with where we are now. So just thinking of this here week: What are your plans for this week?
What will you do, what will you accomplish this week? More importantly, the many plans of our mind mean nothing if they don’t align with the Lord’s purpose and I find we don't know the Lord’s purpose for our week or longer term our life - unless and until we ask - Him.
So with the words of Proverbs 19:21 as a guide, here’s a good place to start in prayer, Lord you know the plans of my mind and you know your purpose for me this day, this week and for my whole life. Direct my time, my path, my plans and align me with your purpose that what I do, where I go and what I’m about this week are Your purpose…
That’s it guys, to grow in God’s grace and knowledge, grow in His purpose for your life. I pray you’ll have a great, laser focussed, purpose filled week in the Lord!
Again hope to see all husbands on Zoom tonight, it’s going to be fun so send a married friend or 2 also.
